New year Resolution

Every new year people take big big resolutions like "i won't drink this year" and "i won't smoke this year". And within a few weeks they will go back to their old habits. It is not so easy to get rid of from habits. The old proverb about habit well depict how difficult it is to free ourselves from habits.

Therefore never make such strange pledge like above mentioned. It will give you only pain when you fail to keep that. In that case what we can do in this new year? We must do something.

Take some soft and easy -to -keep-resolutions.This will give you some satisfaction of keeping the word and self confidence. That will boost up your energy to go forward. Some Examples of easy resolutions

i will be happy always

i will smile at someone everyday.

i will not tell lie

i will study one new word every day not five.

i will read a holy book verse everyday.

Fr Lionel Mascarenhas SJ passed away

Fr Lionel Mascarenhas SJ passed away this morning at Papal seminary.He was suffering from old age diseases.Before two weeks he was hospitalized for three days at Ruby Hall clinic.His funeral is on 30th Wednesday at 10.00am in Papal Seminary chapel.He was a living saint.Even he was suffering from illness he used to cater to the needs of the seminarians in different ways.He is famous for his revolutionary phrase"freedom with responsibility."

How to sign out from outlook 2007

Oh I think you may be cursing the Microsoft and Bill Gates for preparing such a program like Outlook 2007 when you met with an unexpected problem like this. But the solution for this problem is as simple as Outlook itself. I too had the same problem and I was also cursing. There is no need to log on to www.microsoft.com/support for solving this. Either you need not to log on to www.yahoo.com or www.google.com. If you log on to these sites for solution you will be led astray. Therefore I come to the solution.

The remedy for this is to just close the application. As soon as you close the application Outlook you will be automatically signed out. But you have to do one more thing in order to ensure that nobody send email from your account. Go Tools and take account settings then remove the tick from remember your password option. Then you can believe that nobody can access your account without entering the password. Once closed again if you want to send email you will have to enter the password. If you don't enter the password you will not even find the send button in the Outlook.

Then enjoy the Outlook and make merry.

Why people tell lie?

Some people tell lie in order to survive. Some tell because it is their part and parcel of their life. But why does a friend tell lie when there is no need to tell one. This is what troubles me in this Holy Season of Christmas and New Year. I don't really understand this behavior of certain people. It constantly provokes me to react. Then I thought of writing about this habit on blog. I think this is a positive reaction from me.

This incident took place today morning. I sent a Christmas greetings to one of my friends. When I met him today he told that was a nice email. Then I asked him why he did not send me a one. He told me he did not send to anyone. After sometime I met another friend who also congratulated me. Then he told he mentioned that the above mentioned friend also sent him. To tell frankly I was alarmed to hear that. But I did not express my feelings. I personally consider that I am not the one to be omitted even by mistake. So it really hurt me.

I was thinking whole day why did he behave so? Why should I even think of such things? Actually it really taught me a good lesson to follow in the next year. Never consider him even as a friend because he was pretending all these years. I know him for more than 15 years. Still…… yes we should be prudent enough to identify the people, their nature, their family background and ultimately this kind of "third rate behavior".

I think this decision may not be a right one to take in this time of greatest love.

But …..

The sole consolation may be a thought like this "why do you expect people to be the-way-you-think-sort"?

Avatar, 2012 and Zen Story

"Your head is already full. Nothing will enter there""No my head is empty I want to learn your culture" This is the dialogue from the world hit movie Avatar. A similar kind of dialogue is echoed in the most famous disastrous film "2012" when the young disciple goes to the Dlailama. The western world is often quoting the same story in these two movies.

The story is from Zen tradition. It goes like this. One novice goes to the master and asks for wisdom. Then the master takes a small earthen cup and pours water into it. It gets filled then also the master keeps on pouring the water. The novice tells him "Master, the cup is already full!!".Then master replies to the novice "Dear you are like this cup. Your head is already full with knowledge. First empty your head. Then only you can receive something new." The novice gets enlightened.

I often think the why it is so. Two more reference to the same story. First one is Paulo Coelho's Alchemist and second one is Robin Sharma's "The monk who sold his Ferrari". This story has made a very deep impact on the western world. It stands as the fountain of the wisdom to the western world. These days often scientists also speak about the "Spiritual Quotient", the younger child in the so called 'Quotient "family. Sometimes it makes as boring to listen to the same sort of dialogue. Yet it has great value in even our lives too.

It calls for total emptying of our head and mind too. We often confront with knew ideas from different people. Sometimes we turn our head due to our overconfidence in our knowledge. A kind of Zen humility and feeling of humanity are requisite for opening our minds to the new ideas and teaching. Both these movies are an adventurous journey to this total emptying of mind and opening the window to the wide and vast horizon of the new ideas, imagination and fiction. Surly these two movies will remain in the minds of audience like the spatio-temporal shattering Zen story.

Is extra terrestrial perception possible?

I doubt if Extra Terrestrial Perception?Actually philosophy speaks that it is possible.But in the depth of my heart i always doubted this unnatural phenomena to a greater extent.What makes me to write this blog discussing this is that before two or three weeks i had such an experience of ETP.By ETP we mean that if something good or bad happens to our relatives,friends or family members we will get that in a fraction of second even anubody informing us.

Really i had such an experience.It forced me to call that particular person on a Saturday evening.I just skipped that. Sunday morning after attending the Eucharist again that thought came to my mind.It forced me to call then itself.I called.Yes the bad thing had hit that person.Yes heart speaks even when You are away from your friend,relative or family members.

"The flipping of the butterfly creates an earthquake here in my mind".

An ATM comedy

Recently I got an ATM from Catholic Syrian Bank.I am first time using the ATM card.Then I wanted to try it.For that I went to Canara Bank ATM.Actually I was not even aware of which side has to be inserted first.I some how inserted the card and typed the PIN and the amount I wanted.As soon as I entered the amount the money,the card and the receipt came out.As I am very conscious of the procedure I took first the card thinking that it I can take the money after that.but as I was about to take the money to my surprise the money went back to the ATM.I knocked at the machine.No response.Again I inserted the card and asked for the balance inquiry.Yes My Rs.500 is already deducted from the Atm.Oh what to do !!!!I was totally confused.I was crestfallen.By any how I wanted to come out from the ATM counter.I pulled and pushed the door.It is eternally clsoed.Then the person who was waiting outside told me"Ey slla Button press karonnaaaaaaaa"I pressed the button and the door was opened.

Today I went to the bank and told my mistake.Then Only I came to know that 30second is the time for every action at the ATM.Dear fellow beings never repeat the same .They told me that I would get the money after 2days.

A Religious comedy

Once there was boy who was the only son of his parents. His parents wanted him to peruse his father's business. But he wanted to join seminary in order to become religious person. His parents especially his father did all he could do to change his decision but nothing was yielding any benefit in favour of his father. At last he decided to send him with a girl who was a close relative of them for picnic instructing her to change his mind. Actually the girl was quite a modern girl. After the picnic both of them came back. The father asked her what happened. Did you changes his mind. She did not tell anything. After a week she joined a convent to become a nun.

A great day I can keep in memory for ever

We had three days sharing with former Papalites who are rendering successful service at their respective places. It was an eye opener for me as well as others to listen to those who have done something great in their mission. why I keep this day as memorable because of two reasons.

First,today the first time I dared to ask question to the panalists after fighting with me for more than one day.when I asked the question there was nothing unusual. But after the meeting Mihir,one of the panelists came and congratulated me for asking such wonderful question. And he also hugged me. It was really a touching experience for me. This is the first time I am asking like this. But it gives me self confidence and motivation to ask questions in the class too.

Second reason is that today we had a peculiar event. That is we celebrated a birthday of someone from whom we did not expect such cooperation. I enjoyed maximum.

Before the Rains:A review

Kerala is well known for its movies and world famous directors.The Kerala film industry is also growing at a phenomenal rate.Every year a lot of movies hit the theater.The audience are flooded with many movies.There are a good number of movies in malayalam that comes with commercial taste and preference.But i had only a few chance of watching good movies in the theater.Because the good movies never comes to theater.

Therefore when I heard of the movie Before the Rains itself i watched that movie.I would tell it was a thought provoking film.I don't narrate the story of the movie but it was really a kind of movie that narrates the Kerala culture,beliefs and traditions.Santhosh Shivan could bring the originality in the movie using all kinds of traditional beliefs.What attracted me was Bose kissing the burning metal in order to prove his innocence.That scene is marvelously taken with its all beauty.The tourists remember Kerala for its monsoon ie the abundance of the rain.Rain has become theme for many malayalam movies like perumazhakalam.As the title indicates in this movie also rain has a significant role to play.The foreigner has to finish the road construction before the monsoon starts.If monsoon comes it will not be possible for him to complete the work.But he has given monsoon a spiriatual meaning of cleansing.That is why at the end of the movie rain comes to purify him from his defilements.

Movie is also successful in depicting the forgiving nature of Keralites especially and at large the Indians.at the end of the movie the foreigner is set free by Bose.This is really worthseeing.Rain cleanses both of them.The wife of the foreigner also depicts a moral character.

I would highly recommended that all should watch that movie.

A painting that i can never forget

Yes in our life we have seen many paintings and pictures that have touched our life or seduced our eyes.The paintings of Davinci a and Michael Angelo are most famous among them. The painting of Raja Ravi Varma is still on of the marvels in the world.They are unique and appealing to our eyes.

But more than these there is a painting that touched both my eyes and heart that is what i saw when i was going for a picnic with my class students.We were travelling from Trivandrum to Alleppey.It was already midnight. As children were dancing and singing i could not sleep.I was watching what all things area happening tin the outside world.Then i saw the picture that still remains in my mind.

A lean man drawing a picture of the malayalam actress picture on the wall of jewelry shop.Even though it was mid night how beautifully he was drawing the picture.It was not for his pleasure or get fame by drawing the picture but it was for earning the food for the family.still i could see that he was totally immersed in his paintings.whether it is for money or fame what is more important is that a kind of involvement in whatever we do.Usually nobody will be very active in the nighttime but the poverty compels him to work in the nighttime too.

The painting was very attractive.I think it was a picture of Kavya Madhavan a famous malayalam actress.The painting had a touch of Sandosh shivan who portrayed Kavya as Revivarma's well known picture in the movie Anandabhadram.Therefore that picture lives in me more stronger than any other picture that i have seen. Dear artist you may have drawn that picture for your livelihood but for me a piece of art that still lives in me more stronger than any other picture.

How kind Japanese are!!!

This is not a story.But real incident that happened to one of my professors recently.He was there i n Japan for attending a The world Sanskrit Conference in Japan.He had to travel a few minutes to get the Hotel from where he stayed.But actually he did not know the exact way to the hotel.As there was enough time at his disposal he decided to walk to the hotel. As he was going forward he got confused.So he asked a girl,who was going on a bicycle where the hotel was.To his surprise suddenly not only the girl got down from the bicycle and told where the hotel is and also accompanied him to the hotel in ordere to show the hotel.

The greater surprise came later only.As the Japanese women are famous for their beauty, my professor also thought she would be a student.On the way she asked him why he was there? He replied that he was there to chair a session in the World Sanskrit Conference. Following that he asked her what she is doing.To his surprise she told She is a doctor.He was really shocked to hear that.Because a doctor taking a stranger to the place where he wanted to go when he asked for the way.He was quite impressed and also expressed the same to her.

This reminds me what Jesus told"If someone asks you to follow him for one mile follow him four en miles."When he came back here shared the same with us his students.Now i am thinking if it was in India how will be the situation.I don't underestimate the hospitality of Indians.yet this incident prompted me to write this blog.Yes She will remain in my mind also.

why boys don't say to girls that they are sexy

i wonder what a girl will think if somebody is telling her that she is sexy.of course she will feel exited.I think most of the city dwelling girls want to hear this from somebody.They donn't care whether it is from a boy or girl.If it is from a boy it is always nice.

Earlier when i strted using orkut i saw most of my girl friends were afraid to publish their photos not even in the place of their profile photo.But it is changing because most of the girls are uploading their photos in the orkut.But now i think why do they do so?Only to share their photos!!! No of course not.They also like somebody saying them they are sexy or cute or exiting.

Therefore i today wrote on my friends profile that she looks sexy.The word sexy is a very catchy word.Why i wrote?because nobody has written anything.Actually Why do these boys say a compliment to some girls.Don't they deserve it.We must appreciate their beauty and charm.

so dear friend make some comments like this.At least let them enjoy and happy.I think that she will be surely happy. i thinks she is also privileged because she is the first girl to whom i say that she looks sexy.

Are our boys timid to say like this to a girl.what i think is that they give some bad meaning to the word sexy.

Fear of people regarding what they will think

now here also i am afraid what people will think if i write whatever comes to my mind.i saw some faces in the blog who are my friends.If they come to know about what i write what they will thinks always me makes me frightened.but i have decided to go ahead. I am a novice in this field.i don't know the custom and way of expressions and all.because i am an animal which does not know about the conventions and decency in the field.Yet i try my best here.the only reason that motivates me is the desire to go beyond.Yes i want to go beyond.nothing should not be a hindrance for me.i want to become human.writing can make human beings perfect.In my life i have written only few articles in order to publish in one of the manuscript magazine out of coercion.Not from my free will.

HERE I realize the full meaning of freewill.i am also free, free like a bird. I want to fly to the horizon of blog.There may not be logical or conceptual coherence in my writing.That i don't care.By writing only I will acquire these skills.

I must personally appreciate myself.Because for me this blogging is a new life giving.Here i am trying to find out my own abilities like writing.In my opinion that itself is a big achievement.Therefore i have decided to go ahead.yes i must go forward in order to find sth new.

Ethics exam

Today i had ethics exam.actually i did study.exam was in a way good experience.Professor asked me to speak about his favourite philosopher.how can i know who his dear philosopher is? but i cud guess who he is.yes he is Levinas.The thesis that i am going to do about Phenomenology of eros is also based on that philosopher Levinas.Still i cud not speak very well about the philosopher.How can i say sth about him.i never go to claass.i have never been attentive in my classes.

but as i expected the professor was kind enough to me.he gave all the chance to speak.he tried to bring the real philosophy of Levinas but do u think a never class goer can say sth about a philosopher.Hes should not. i did not.

Yesterday in my blog i noted that exams are time waste.but oral exams cannot be included in that category.because there u get enlightenment.Even if u don't know at least the professor will explain sth during exam time.that is y i like oral exam.

i will always be tensed b4 the exam.it has become my part and parcel.i think i always wanted to give answers perfectly.that is what make me more tensed.therefore 2day i tried to be as cool as possible.So i sat in front of the professor very coolly. yes after the exam also i am very cool.but still after the exam even if i try to be cool i am not conformable. my passion to be perfect always make me restless as well as tensed.

i want to get rid of this tension.how can i .it i think it is possible.those who believe that can they can!!!!but y y i feel so? i don't know.anyway that leads me to the understanding that life is full of struggle and exams.

how to handle exams in a better way .only possibility is to understand.so far i have studied without understanding anything.that is what makes my exams a failure.so i have to understand the concept and study.understand first.

only understanding con liberate a person.without understanding how a professor will teach ?likewise a sutdent can not say anything without understanding.

that is what happened in my case. i did not what Levinas philosophy al about.I studied some words in his philosophy but when asked to explain eth went wrong

till today i was very concerned about the marks.yes after ethics exam i proclaim give me marks for that i understood.

why do i blog?

for me blog as well as cyber space is sacred space. why do we go to sacred places like Yamuna, Mekka, where Jesus was born and so on? in order to sanctify and purify ourselves.this is the same answer for me to blog.i come here to purify and sanctify me.Even if i go to these places i don't think that i will be purified.But here i am sure that blog will make me clean from that what is unclean.That's y i blog.i want to purify my thoughts, emotions feelings and totally myself.

i am always hunted by different disturbing thoughts and feelings.but there is no one to share these feelings.i don't like to pen down in diary because it will remain there for ever.only after my death somebody will open that read considering that as my "personal diary".i don't want to happen that to me.i want frequent answers, no no... i don't want answers i want responses.therefore i come to the world of blog where people freely pen their opinions and thoughts.in the world there is no other place where u can freely share ur thoughts.

therefor here i am to find new people to who can share their valuable thoughts with me. how is that!!!!! expecting contributions from all.

are Exams a waste?

i think exams r time waste.because it consumes our valuable time by by heating everything that the professor tought in the class.we must find some other ways to evaluate the student.the one way is to give him chance and time to read a text and prepare a detailed study material based on that and allow him/her to take class on that.i think this is a better way.this will help him to at least familiarize himself with the original text.but conducting exams at the end of the semester is useless in my opinion.what do you think?
